'What are you going to write about?' I was asked when I said I'd begun yet another blog. Fair question, as Puck'n'Skate will be my seventh or eight startup in ten years.
The great thing was, I didn't have to put thought into the answer, the topics just rolled off my tongue. The challenge instead was to limit my list so the conversation remained a conversation instead of turning into a monologue. But the question, combined with my experience in the blogosphere, did cause me to think a bit about how I'm going to approach this as a literary exercise. Afterall, that's what blogging is. Isn't it?
I've been thinking of this project for months, just had to wait for the right name to leap to mind before beginning. 'Cute but not too cute,' was my criteria. I hope puck'n'skate meets the bill. Kinda surprised no-one else has used it first. But that's the joy of creativity, it always seems obvious once done.
I like writing. I like to think I can write about anything. I don't like that I don't do enough of it these days. Partly, ironically, that's due to my burgeoning interest in all things skate'n'puck - there just isn't the time left at the end of the day to give to a blog. At least, not to one without a name that sticks. So, now that that hurdle's overcome, maybe I can just get on with it?
To wrap this post, and answer the question, I therefore offer myself and you, dear reader, the following guide to some of what I'll cover in the times to come at Puck'n'Skate. The list is neither pre- nor pro-scriptive. It's just a list. Hopefully it will give us both a clue.
Sites and Resources - the internet is an amazing place!
Places and People - the world is an amazing place!
Biography - marking the journey to now.
Diet, fitness, exercise, health - the body is an amazing thing!
Drills, skills, routines - it's a way of life.
Teams and Tables - from NHL to Gawler inline club games.
Reportage - own games and others.
Analysis - examining the entrails.
Technique - learning new things every day.
All a little abstract. All done before, no doubt, but it's my journey, so every step is a first step and I hope to share the buzz at least a little. We'll see how we go.
